I thought I’d be able to fly to Asia this year. My oldest son is teaching in Taiwan and I had been visiting friends in Hong Kong on a yearly basis for the better part of the past decade. But, alas, that was not to be. I don’t know when I’ll next be able to leave my area, but my family and I did get away last month and found hiking trails we never thought we could reach in our state of Illinois.

thanks Susan – I read the book once – what was it ” a walk in the woods” and also remember seeing the film come out with Robert Redford, Nick Nolte and Emma Thompson appearing. Enjoyed the book much more than the film somehow? but that is often the case heh? Always been a fan of bill bryson and read half a dozen of his tomes!

Thank you so much! I think it’s the start of the Appalachian Trail and the rock formations were under water millions of years ago. It was so pretty and not what you’d think of the middle of the US!
