I used to drive sometimes 100 miles roundtrip to attend book launches for other authors, but in recent years have become more protective of my time. It’s not that some launches aren’t worth the drive, but my kids are getting older and need more chauffeuring themselves. I can’t be in two places at once! But unless I’m out of town or have a kids’ band concert, I will do what I can to make it to Sonali Dev’s book launches.
Her latest is Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors (William Morrow, 2019), which I’ve been hearing about for a couple years and am so excited to start! Plus, I am definitely one to judge a book by it’s cover and take a look at hers!
I love these fun photos, but can anyone explain why we’re still wearing winter jackets in May?
And I love that Sonali has taken a classic story and added a contemporary twist to it. I won’t give away too much, but her protagonist Dr. Trisha Raje is the Mr. Darcy character and chef DJ Caine is the Elizabeth Bennett character. The story is set in the Bay Area and there’s food!
In true Sonali fashion, she provided samosas and mimosas at her reading tonight at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, Illinois. And it’s only fitting that I met Sonali in front of Anderson’s five years ago!
Happy reading!
