I first went to the Foreign Correspondents’ Club in Hong Kong sometime in the mid-1990s. I can’t remember if it was lunch with friends or my first meeting with the Hong Kong Women in Publishing Society, but it was love at first sight. I love old buildings and colonial architecture and the FCC is a perfect specimen of that.
A few years ago a friend arranged an event for me through the Women in Publishing Society. It was a dream come true to speak there. I met another author there who has become a good friend. Check out the interior and the tile floor.
Every time I’ve visited Hong Kong since going back in 2012, another friend has so generously treated me to dinner or lunch there. And this year was no exception. The outside is marked well, although the building is kind of tucked away above Central.
The lobby’s grand staircase is something else.
And the Main Bar is where my friend Erica takes me to dinner or lunch.
I usually order Indian food there, which is some of the best in Hong Kong.
I can’t be a guest forever, so it’s my dream to become a member so I can take Erica and other friends out to dinner there to thank them for all the times they’ve treated me and all the incredibly warm hospitality they’ve shown me over the years.
