The summer of 1995

December 13, 2016 By Susan Blumberg-Kason Leave a Comment

I recently came across some photos from 1995 China I didn’t know existed. My grandma gave me a large box of photos to look through and I found these.

In the summer of 1995, my parents flew to China to attend my wedding in Hubei province. They flew into Shanghai, where we visited Sun Yat-sen’s home. I had no recollection of this, but the photo proves that we were there.

We also took a (local) cruise down the Yangzi River to see the Three Gorges. The boat was called the Tian Fu, and my parents, uncle, and I were the only non-Chinese on the boat of several hundred. It was 100F outside, and the cabins were even hotter and more stifling. Unlike the visit to the Sun Yat-sen house, I haven’t forgotten the Tian Fu.
