When the Italian translation of Good Chinese Wife came out, I quickly ordered one from Amazon Italy. Una Brava Moglie Cinese had more or less the same cover as the English original, so I wasn’t expecting this edition to be much different from the first.
But when my parcel arrived from Italy, I was more surprised than anyone! It’s a hardcover!
The original English edition comes in trade paperback and ebook versions, so it’s extra cool to have a hardcover now in Italian. The inside of the dust jacket has a little synopsis. I don’t read Italian, but can get the gist of it more or less.
Here’s the title page!
And this is chapter one. The English version features tea cups across the top of each chapter heading. This doesn’t, but tea cups appear in section breaks throughout the book.
The table of contents is located at the end of the book and is called an index here.
Since it’s a hardcover, I was curious to see what was under the dust jacket.
And this is the back of the dust jacket and inside the back cover.
And finally, the spine! I think spines are the most overlooked parts of books.
It even looks the same under the dust jacket.
If you read Italian and are interested in reading Una Brava Moglie Cinese, you can find it at la Feltrinelli, Giunti al Punto, IBS, or from my Italian publisher, Newton Compton Editori.
This Italian translation has definitely been one of the highlights of my publishing career so far.
