Today marks the second year since my publication date for Good Chinese Wife!
Although the hype around many books tapers off after a year, I’ve been happy with the continued interest in Good Chinese Wife. Since last July 29th, which marked the first anniversary, I’ve traveled to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and the Chicago suburbs for book events and have visited almost a dozen book groups.
This year I also obtained more than 100 Amazon reviews, which is a pretty decent milestone for an author. I’m up to 118 and it’s not too late to write one if you’ve read the book and have some thoughts about it. Every review counts!
Good Chinese Wife also got an updated cover with a blurb on the front a few on the back!
I’ve also branched out with my writing this past year. I wrote the forward to a re-release of Ban Zhao’s Instructions for Chinese Women and Girls (Camphor Press, 2015).
I also started writing for the Los Angeles Review of Books’ China Blog and to date have contributed five reviews, interviews, and overviews. I have enjoyed this work immensely!
Also this year, the Italian translation of Good Chinese Wife was published as Una Brava Moglie Cinese.
Another huge highlight was the amazing opportunity I was given by Asian Pop-Up Cinema in Chicago to interview Hong Kong director Herman Yau and to emcee Asian Pop-Up Cinema’s closing night gala. It was a night I’ll remember for years to come.
If I had known two years ago that I would have accomplished all of these things a year after Good Chinese Wife was published, I wouldn’t have believed it. I’ve been incredibly fortunate and look forward to what this next year brings.
Thank you all for your support! I couldn’t have gotten this far without readers!
