With Mar at the Pen 2

Yesterday my younger son was coughing and had a sore throat. Strep throat is going around the school, and as a conscientious parent (or so I hope) I couldn’t send him to school without knowing if he had strep. So we braved the crazy Chicago rush hour traffic and were only an hour late for our appointment.

Martin didn’t have strep. It was only a common cold. So probably against my better judgement, I asked Martin if he wanted to go to the Peninsula for lunch. He is my son, so of course he said yes. It’s pretty cold in Chicago these days, so even walking a block and a half wasn’t easy. But it was so worth it!

Martin and I will be back at the Pen this weekend for tea with my family and friends. I hope the pretty Chinese New Year tree will still be up. The hostess told me the arrangements are changed every Monday, so if you’re in Chicago and around North Michigan Avenue and East Superior, stop by the Pen too see these decorations while they’re still up.
