When my daughter was a baby, my sisters-in-law and I started a tradition to go to the Peninsula Chicago for lunch around Christmas. We’ve been going every year since then and this year I brought my three kids.
My older son, Jake, is usually in Arizona the last two weeks of December with my mom. But this year he’s home working on college applications.
The Lobby Restaurant serves western food, but they usually have at least one Asian dish. This year it was a chicken, green bean, and pepper stir-fry. I ordered it and was not disappointed. The chicken was so tender, I didn’t really need a knife.
For dessert, my sister-in-law and I shared this caramel profiterole with ice cream and gold shavings. My little ones got in on the action, too, especially when it came to the gold.
Jake ordered the set menu, which included an extensive appetizer and dessert buffet. This is just a sampling of what the dessert table offered.
And no trip to The Lobby would be complete without a pot of tea!
We had a nice, relaxing time, even with three kids eight and under. My nephew wasn’t even a year old, but he held his own.
Happy Holidays!
That’s so nice that they gave you a small jar of honey for your tea! I can’t believe that Jake is taller than you, they grow up so fast! I was reading about him being a baby in your book last year! P.S. How do they get that tree up? It’s huge!
I know, he’s so tall! Even a few years ago he was shorter than me. Time flies so quickly!
