Once upon a time in Shanghai

Have you ever been away from a city for twenty years, only to return to something that was so different from anything you remembered from the past? When I tell people I’m going back to Shanghai this fall after a 20 year absence, I hear that it’ll be like seeing a whole new city.

These photos show the Shanghai that I knew and really how I still picture it today.
