I would by lying if I said I didn’t obsessively check my Amazon ranking every day. But what I really live for is Friday morning when I can see my sales for the past week. Amazon has a cool site called Author Central, which not only tracks Amazon sales, but also any retail sale where books are scanned at a register.
So if I have books shipped to an event in New York or Hong Kong, those are sold through a distributor and don’t count toward my Author Central sales. But it’s still fun to get a gist for how any given week is going.
One cool feature of Author Central is the sales-by-geography page. I’m not at all surprised that Chicago comes in way ahead as number one in terms of Good Chinese Wife book sales. Here’s my top five list nine months after the book came out:
1. Chicago
2. New York
3. San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose
4. Los Angeles
5. Philadelphia
And for my bottom five, here’s what I found:
61. Las Vegas
62. Nashville
63. Omaha
64. Pittsburgh
65. Spokane
Many smaller areas are combined together, but those still rank higher than these bottom five.
I don’t have foreign sales reports, but have heard it’s done quite well in Singapore and is often sold out in Hong Kong.
Thank you to everyone who has read the book. I also check Amazon reviews religiously, so please feel free to leave one here if you have an opinion of the book.
Have a great weekend!
