Winter wedding

January 26, 2015 By Susan Blumberg-Kason Leave a Comment

In Good Chinese Wife, I don’t write about my Chicago wedding reception (not enough room and it didn’t really move the story forward). But I recently found photos from that party and thought I’d share some!

My parents booked a lovely space at the old Printers Row Hyatt in Chicago. (It’s now another hotel). Here I am wearing my red qipao from Suzhou, sitting with family and friends.

My mom went all out to give the party a Chinese flavor. She hired a Chinese musician.

And she adorned the space with decorations like these double happiness characters, which in Chinese equates a happy marriage.

I still have this qipao, although I haven’t worn it out since this party in 1995.
