Lee Kofman

October 3, 2014 By Susan Blumberg-Kason Leave a Comment

Lee KofmanI first came across Lee Kofman thanks to a mutual friend in China, Stuart Beaton. Based in Australia, Lee was born in the Soviet Union and grew up in Israel. She’s the author of three novels in Hebrew and now of a fabulous brand new memoir in English, The Dangerous Bride: A Memoir of Love, Gods and Geography (Melbourne University Press, 2014).

I’m in the middle of her memoir now and cannot put it down! What a fabulous story and such an intelligent look at an often taboo subject: non-monogamous marriage. She writes about Anais Nin, Iris Murdoch, and her own first marriage to a man who had different marital expectations. The Dangerous Bride is also an immigration story and a look into the writing life. Congratulations, Lee!
