Amy Sonnichsen

September 5, 2014 By Susan Blumberg-Kason Leave a Comment

Amy SonnichsenAmy Sonnichsen isn’t just the author of the forthcoming middle grade novel in verse, Red Butterfly (Simon & Schuster, 2015). She is also the mother of five and a former China expat (she lived in Tianjin for almost a decade). But she also grew up in Hong Kong! How cool is that?

I first became acquainted with Amy several years back through an online writing group for authors of Asian novels (and memoirs, in my case). We’ve both had interesting roads to publication. I would have read Amy’s forthcoming book no matter what, but I’m especially anxious to get my hands on it because my daughter Rachel is reading middle grade books now and I can’t wait to discuss it with her. Red Butterfly tells the story of a young orphaned girl in modern-day China who discovers the meaning of family. It’s available for pre-ordering here. Congratulations, Amy!
