The great thing about being a teenager in the 80s is that there’s a huge chance you look better now than you did back then. At least that’s what I’m telling myself as I flip through old photos from my teenage years.
My father and I traveled to Seoul in the summer of 1987, a year before the Olympics came to that city. Here we are in Bukak Park with a relative of my dad’s student back in Chicago.
But the most startling thing about this photo is that I’m wearing my beloved purple skirt that I bought in Mexico City back in 1982. I was completely devoted to this skirt when I traveled around the world in 1991. It was one of only three changes of clothes I brought on that trip.
I have no idea what happened to that skirt. We may have parted ways in Chicago, Baltimore, Washington, DC, Hong Kong, or San Francisco. I can’t remember.

This made me laugh.

That’s great you had the chance travel at a young age.
Being a teenager in the 90s also means you look better now than back then, at least I hope so 🙂

Yes, totally agree about the 90s and now. Looking back, it seems that 80s fashion spread into the first half of the 90s.
