I recently learned of a new, personalized children’s book out of Hong Kong. So of course I grabbed one as quickly as I could. Geared for kids ten and under, Dragon Hunting in Hong Kong (All About Me, Hong Kong, 2013), allows you to personalize three characters and choose from fourteen different character designs.
Lucky that I have three kids, and though one is fourteen, I had an easy time naming my characters.
The book arrived today and all three kids love it, even the teenager. The story takes place all across Hong Kong, from Stanley to Shatin and Lantau to Tsim Sha Tsui. The kids are in search of a dragon and every time they think they’ve found one, it turns out to be something else until they make a realization (which I won’t spoil) at the very end.
My kids know about the trams, Star Ferry, typhoon signals, and floating restaurants, but to read about them in a book is extra fun. And to be a character set in Hong Kong is even better. They learned about other attractions in Hong Kong and saw all of these places through a kid’s perspective.
This is a fun book and one that would make a great gift. Each runs about US$25.
