Today I had my first meeting with my editor at Sourcebooks! Stephanie, my agent Carrie, and I spoke for almost an hour. It felt like we were all old friends soon after the meeting started.
I’m excited to work on a few more revisions over the next several months. The manuscript is basically there, but Stephanie will give me some ideas for tightening up some parts and expanding others.
We also discussed the publication date for Good Chinese Wife! Stephanie thought July 2014 would be ideal because it’s not a busy time in publishing, so we won’t be competing with a ton of other hot releases. And people will be going on vacation in the weeks to come, so folks can pick up a copy of Good Chinese Wife (in a handy trade paperback or e-book format) just before they go away or just take time off from work.
In a couple of months, I’ll hear from the person in Sourcebooks’ publicity department who will be assigned to me. I can’t wait to report back with more exciting book news.
Before then, if you missed some recent guest blogs and interviews I did, please check out these:
My agent, Carrie Pestritto, wrote about our book deal on her fabulous blog here.
Speaking of China, the authority on relationships between Asian men and Western women, featured my guest post about keeping a connection to China after divorce from a Chinese spouse. It can be found here.
And author Wendy Nelson Tokunaga interviewed me for the Girlfriends Book Club about my path to publication and my favorite Chinese restaurant in the US! That interview is here.
Happy reading!
