Portland’s Lan Su Garden

July 1, 2019 By Susan Blumberg-Kason 1 Comment

I recently traveled to Portland, Oregon for the first time and one of the highlights was visiting the beautiful Lan Su Garden, which was built in 1999 in honor of Portland’s sister city, Suzhou.

When we arrived at the garden, there was still a little while before it opened, so we enjoying sitting in the sun while the ticket office started setting up for a new day.

And once we entered the garden, it surpassed our expectations. I’ve been to Suzhou 2-3 times, but it’s been decades. Entering this garden was like stepping back in time when I was in Suzhou.

The Lan Su Garden is located in the old Chinatown, although there’s not much of that left now apart from a gate and a few Chinese restaurants. Nonetheless, the Garden is a must-see in Portland.

Love it in there one of the small wonders and a piece of tranquility within the busy hub that is Downtown Portland
