It’s the eve of New Year’s Eve and I can’t help but remember back many years ago to the time I spent New Year’s Eve in Tahiti. It might sound like paradise–and it was very beautiful and took forever to get there from Chicago–but the trip wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. I went to a night club New Year’s Eve with the 16 year old girl of the family I was staying with and ended up on some bench alone just after the clock struck midnight. Some random guy offered me a vial of white powder and I not only wanted to leave the night club, but I’d had it with Tahiti, too. The rest of the trip wasn’t much better, but it was certainly a learning experience and another place crossed off my travel list. Have you ever had high expectations for New Year’s Eve, only to be disappointed and wish you were somewhere else?
