Year of the Rooster at the Peninsula Chicago

January 29, 2017 By Susan Blumberg-Kason 4 Comments

I always love going to the Pen over Lunar New Year and this year did not disappoint. My family and some friends met up for afternoon tea today.

The Lobby Lounge was decorated with a few festive trees.

We had a choice of the regular afternoon tea menu and a Chinese-inspired tea menu, so we picked the latter. The Pen gave the kids this festive kiddie cocktail.

The Chinese tea included these savory treats:

And these desserts:

Here’s a close-up of the chocolate chicken:

We also had a couple baskets of two types of scones. It was so nice to spend a couple hours eating and catching up with dear friends. Next year we’re going to try to time our tea with the Pen’s lion dance to ring in the Year of Dog (my zodiac year!).

A happy and prosperous Year of the Rooster! Solidarity.
