Happy Book Birthday!

Good Chinese Wife is one year old today! It’s been a year beyond expectation and would take another book to thank everyone who read my memoir, promoted it, and wrote reviews. These are just some photos that highlight events this first year.

My book launch was held at Sandmeyer’s Bookstore in Chicago on my publication date. 80 friends and family showed up that evening. I was touched beyond imagination.

My first reading was at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, Illinois. Another great turnout thanks to many friends who came out that night.

Set up

I traveled to New York and New Jersey in September for three events.

And Hong Kong the following month for three more.

Plus an impromptu book signing at Dymocks in Hong Kong, thanks to my two fabulous friends who asked the store if I could sign their copies (I’ve since learned to be a bit more bold.)

I had another event at Books on Vernon in Glencoe, Illinois, and loved seeing many old friends.

In March, I traveled to Washington, DC for another event where I saw many college friends. Many also attended my first New York event.

I was back in the New York area in April for three events: one in Brooklyn and two in Connecticut.

Good Chinese Wife was chosen as a book at my library’s community book series this spring. I gave a presentation about making a home abroad and incorporating elements from my expat life after I returned to the US.

HPLI was also the keynote speaker in June for the National Council of Jewish Women’s North Shore Section.

All along I’ve also visited more than a dozen and a half book groups, many in person but also some via Skype.

The life of a book will last as long as it continues to capture the attention of readers. Going into the second  year, I am putting together another itinerary of events both home and abroad. Stay tuned!

Thank you again for making this year one I’ll never forget.

Wonderful post. Thank for sharing. Recently I read its a book called “Being stripped naked “, its really awesome, it is an Asian romance novel portraying a British expats life in Hongkong during 1997. I love this book.
