Wherever I’ve lived, I’ve been super fortunate to have friends and family and friends of friends visit me. Whether it was Washington, DC, Hong Kong, San Francisco, or even Chicago, I’ve always enjoyed meeting up with these out of towners.
Back during my Hong Kong years, I played de facto tour guide to professors from my parents’ university’s MBA program. The university had a joint venture in Hong Kong and would send professors for a few weeks each quarter.
Here I am just months before the Handover. Of all places, we met for lunch at Dan Ryan’s Chicago Grill. Not my first choice, bien sur, but I wasn’t running the show.
This Dan Ryan’s was in Pacific Place in Admiralty on Hong Kong Island, and there was another in TST across the harbour in Kowloon.
I ended up showing three sets of professors around that year. We mainly shopped and ate in Stanley and TST. Fun times.
