Chinese theater in Chicago

May 17, 2014 By Susan Blumberg-Kason Leave a Comment

It’s an exciting time for Sinophiles and theater goers in Chicago. Two plays about China are playing this and next month. And I’m excited to see both in the next week!

The Goodman Theatre is staging the classic Chinese folk story, The White Snake.

And the Court Theatre at the University of Chicago is putting on a production of David Henry Hwang’s M Butterfly.

I saw the film version of M Butterfly 20 years ago and wasn’t impressed, but have high hopes for the play! Several years ago in Chicago, a series of David Henry Hwang plays were staged across the city and they were all pretty fabulous.
