My mom is off on another vacation today, this time to France. She and a few friends will spend 10 days in Bordeaux, but they’re not (necessarily) going for the wine. They traveled there to check out a village they’ve read about in some mysteries.

Although this photo has nothing to do with France or mysteries, it reminds me of my mom’s independent spirit.

I love this photo because 1) it’s from 1965, a simpler time, 2) it’s from her year in Japan, several years before I came onto the scene, and 3) it represents a nice mixture of west meets east.

I wish her well on her travels and can’t wait to hear all about it.
