One year ago to this day, I launched this blog and never imagined 365 days later, people in 50 countries would view my little posts about travel and books.
Thank you!
This blog has inspired me to search for old postcards and photos, not to mention the thousands of slides my mom and her parents took some 40-50 years ago.
Speaking of, my second post featured a photo of my mom in 1964, lugging a huge suitcase on New York’s Upper West Side.
So I thought I’d post another family travel photo to mark today’s milestone. In this slide, my mom’s mother is posing in front of a giant Buddhist statue in India in 1974.
I was four years old then. In a couple of days, my own daughter will turn four. And wouldn’t you know it, but her grandma (my mom) has a grand off-the-beaten path trip planned this spring: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
I hope these places sell postcards.

Happy Blog Birthday Susan! I recently found your site through the travel memoir writers group, and I’ve really enjoyed seeing the old pictures of Hong Kong. I currently live in HK, and I’ve been writing about my experiences here. I’m really looking forward to reading BOUNDARY STREET when you’re finished.

Thank you so much, Shannon! I came across your fabulous blog after I joined that FB travel memoir group, so your comment really means a lot!! I just love your posts and have added your site to my blogroll. Thanks for the encouraging words. Still trying to find an agent/publisher for BOUNDARY STREET, but I’m bound and determined. We’ll see!
